Just as children were dear to Jesus Christ, the St. Thomas Orthodox Church’s Sunday School gives a lot of importance to our children. Our mission is to spiritually nourish our children by raising them up in the knowledge and fellowship of Jesus Christ and His Church. Our Sunday School strives to live up to its teaching ministry by ensuring the Faith, Discipline and Traditions of the Holy Church are instilled in the hearts of each child.

Organizationally the ministry is affiliated to the North East American Diocese and follows its curriculum. The Sunday School year follows the regular school year with each new year beginning in September and ending in June. We have classes for children of all ages – they include kindergarten to Grade 12 students. The minimum age for admission is 3.5 years. The classes are held after the church service on a Sunday. There are currently over 30 students and 8 teachers in the Sunday School.

In addition to holding annual exams, the Sunday School encourages kids to learn new songs, prayers and hymns. We also conduct several fun activities and talent competitions throughout the year to encourage creativity, leadership and team spirit among students.
