Reverend Father Sam Thankachan

Rev. Fr. Sam Thankachan (Kollamala), is an ordained priest of the Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Church.  Originally from Kollamala House in Pallipad, Haripad in the Alappuzha District of Kerala, India, Fr. Sam Thankachan completed his Bachelor of Divinity & Graduate Diploma in Sacred Theology (BD & GST) at Orthodox Theological Seminary in Kottayam, Kerala, India.  The late, H.G. Paulose Mar Pachomios (Metropolitan of Mavelikara Diocese) ordained Fr. Sam Thankachan to the Sacrament of Holy Orders in 2010.

After theological studies at the Seminary and ordination, Fr. Sam Thankachan completed a Post-Graduate Diploma specializing in Carnatic and Syriac Music at the Malankara Orthodox Church’s Sruthi School of Liturgical Music in Kottayam, Kerala, India. Fr. Sam Thankachan served as the Program Coordinator in the Faculty of Liturgical Music for four years before moving overseas to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 2017,
Fr. Sam Thankachan completed a Bachelor of Sacred Music (BSM) from Canada Christian College in Toronto.


Fr. Sam Thankachan is married to Mrs. Jithika Sam, who is a Secondary School Teacher by profession, and they are blessed with two children, Nived Jacob Sam & Naomi Sara Sam.
